It’s set in the Rutshire countryside and Jilly gives us a wonderful feel for the area and the remarkable people The date should read, read in Augustagain in and every year since. Listening to very bad narration makes you realize how much of the delights of Cooper’s novels come from her plays on language and her whip-sharp understanding of how class, culture and language intermingle.

But love might not be enough. Of course all the various affairs and romances are entwined with this, generating divided loyalties and leaked secrets, but it all comes good rivaos the end for the nice characters anyway.

The O’Hara’s are such a loveable family, and I am no I always come back to Jilly Cooper when I am sad, ill, dealing with a little hearbreak. The only slight dissapointment is the lack coopeer references to horses and show jumping compared to Riders.
